This regional strategic working session funded by the Peninsula Research & Innovation Partnership, will be focused on strengthening how patient and public involvement and inclusion (PPIE) is embedded in research design and delivery.

The NIHR has strengthened its expectations around PPIE. Inclusive public and patient involvement is now a core requirement within many funding programmes, meaning research proposals are expected to demonstrate early and meaningful involvement in study design, alongside inclusive approaches during research delivery.

This event will bring together researchers, PPIE leads and system partners to explore key challenges in embedding PPIE, identify existing support and good practice, and develop practical, system-level approaches to address areas where further action is needed.

The session is designed as a strategic conversation and working session, with a focus on improving how involvement and inclusion are embedded at the design stage of research.

This session forms part of a wider programme of work, with further opportunities planned to engage more broadly with public partners and communities.

We have been gathering information on current experiences of Patient and Public Involvement and Inclusion via a survey.

Regardless of your attendance, you are still welcome to complete the survey as it will help inform and shape the discussions on the day.

This event is led collaboratively by NIHR system partners.

Taking place in the Club Argyle Lounge at Home Park Stadium in Plymouth.
