Outstanding leadership in health and care research is being recognised nationally through the NIHR20 Research Leaders Prizes, celebrating individuals whose work is shaping the future of research and improving lives.
To mark 20 years of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), applications are now open for the NIHR20 Research Leaders Prizes, a prestigious opportunity to celebrate exceptional leadership across the health and care research system.
The prizes recognise researchers and research delivery professionals whose leadership has made a significant impact, whether through advancing research excellence, strengthening research culture, supporting collaboration, or improving outcomes for patients and the public.
Colleagues associated with the NIHR Exeter Biomedical Research Centre are strongly encouraged to apply or to share this opportunity with others whose leadership deserves national recognition.
The NIHR20 Research Leaders Prizes offer:
National recognition as an NIHR Research Leader
Enhanced profile and visibility across the NIHR and wider research community
An opportunity to showcase the impact of your leadership, influence and values
Inclusion in NIHR’s 20-year legacy, celebrating excellence and leadership across the system
The NIHR20 Research Leaders Prizes include two distinct categories, each recognising excellence in leadership across the NIHR community.
This category is open to NIHR Academy Members at early to mid-career stages, including:
Predoctoral and doctoral researchers
Postdoctoral researchers (including eligible Global Health Research Academy Members)
Applicants should demonstrate exceptional achievement relative to their career stage, including research impact, leadership, inclusion, partnership working and advocacy for NIHR.Professors and NIHR Senior Investigators are not eligible for this category.
This category is open to individuals who have led or supported the delivery of NIHR portfolio research, including:
Chief Investigators or Principal Investigators
Associate Principal Investigators
Research delivery professionals and those supporting delivery teams across health and care settings
Applicants should demonstrate leadership that has strengthened research delivery, participation, inclusion and performance. Applications must be supported by a Head of Research and Development or equivalent research delivery lead.
