Andrew graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Biomedical Science from Edinburgh Napier University before joining the University of Exeter as a PhD researcher in genetics. His work uses whole-genome sequencing data from the UK Biobank to identify genetic variants linked to telomere length and sex hormone regulation, and to explore how these contribute to susceptibility and progression in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). By uncovering novel variants and biological pathways, his research aims to improve early diagnosis and support the development of more effective treatments for IPF.
