Tom is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Exeter, currently undertaking an NIHR Biomedical Research Centre Mid-Career Fellowship.
Tom's research during his fellowship will be looking at how we can make pre-surgical planning, and operations, more precise and accurate. He collaborates with the Biophysics group (Prof Nick Stone), using laser light to differentiate between tissue types (Raman spectroscopy), and plans to develop his previous work using Raman spectroscopy towards clinical applications that will directly benefit patients.
