Clinical and academic colleagues at the Knowledge Spa in Truro explored how to turn research ideas into projects with clear patient benefit at a recent NIHR research development event in Cornwall.
Hosted by the South West Peninsula’s NIHR-funded infrastructure teams, the Developing Research with NIHR event brought together experts from the Clinical Trials Unit, Clinical Research Facility, Regional Research Delivery Network and NIHR Exeter Biomedical Research Centre, alongside colleagues from across the region.
Throughout the day, attendees explored the many possible routes into research for clinical staff and learned more about the support available to help develop research ideas and funding applications.
The afternoon included a “Meet the Experts” session, where attendees could speak informally with researchers and support teams about funding opportunities, research pathways and project development.
Early feedback praised the quality of the presentations and highlighted the value of events like this in supporting early-career researchers working in clinical practice.
