Nadira is a BRC-funded PhD student at the University of Exeter. Her project, part of the Exeter BRC's genetics and genomics theme, uses large-scale biobank data, including health records, wearable-device sleep data, and whole-genome sequencing, to identify genetic factors underlying sleep traits and to investigate the causal relationship between sleep and mental health conditions.

Whilst studying Genetics at Queen Mary University of London (graduating with a First), she developed an interest in research through an epigenetics project on placental inflammation. She went on to intern at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics, classifying splice site variants, an experience that shifted her interest toward dry lab work and large-scale genetic data analysis. After a year working in clinical trials, Nadira decided to return to academia, joining the current project as a PhD student.
