Ben's role within the Exeter BRC is to work with people who have chronic lung diseases and explore if personalised exercise can help enhance their pulmonary rehabilitation.

Cardiopulmonary exercise testing will be utilised to collate baseline measures, which are then examined so that we can ascertain the unique figures to support personalised pulmonary rehabilitation. Clinical trials development would then serve to evaluate if a personalised approach can add further benefit for people with chronic lung diseases, when compared against standard pulmonary rehabilitation.

Ben has previously worked alongside his current supervisor, Dr Owen Tomlinson, in the Cystic Fibrosis team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Owen’s enthusiasm for research sparked Ben's interest in this area and he feels very fortunate to be enrolled onto a PhD programme under Owen's guidance.
